Nagpur: Middle-Aged Woman Lured with Job Offer, Raped and Robbed in Rana Pratap Nagar; Crime Branch Arrests Accused

Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, Nagpur Crime Branch teams, in a joint operation, solved a case of rape and robbery reported under Pratapnagar Police Station limits and arrested the accused within days.


On August 22, 2025, around 10:30 pm, a 50-year-old woman, employed in household cleaning work, was lured by a man who introduced himself as a worker assigned to tasks under a religious order. The accused offered her ₹500 for cleaning utensils for an hour. He then took the unsuspecting woman to a deserted building in Pratapnagar area, where he allegedly forced himself upon her and later snatched gold ornaments, including a chain and earrings, along with ₹3,500 in cash, collectively worth ₹90,500, before fleeing the spot.


Based on her complaint, an offence was registered under relevant sections of the BNS at Pratapnagar Police Station.


Crime Branch Unit 4, Unit 1, the chain-snatching squad, and the Cyber Cell conducted parallel technical investigations. Acting on intelligence, they laid a trap and apprehended the accused, identified as Rajneeshkumar Ramkripal Dubey (50), resident of Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, currently staying near Shivshakti Bar, Old Kamptee Road, Kalamna, Nagpur. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. The accused has been handed over to Pratapnagar Police for further action.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of CP Ravindra Kumar Singal, Jt. CP Navinchandra Reddy, Addl. CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil.
