Nagpur: In a significant step toward promoting gender equality in the industrial sector, Maharashtra's Industries Minister, Uday Samant, announced the establishment of the state’s first Women-Led Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in Kanhan, near Nagpur. The announcement was made during the ‘Maharashtra's Industrial Leap’ event held at Hotel Centre Point, Ramdaspeth, on Friday, September 27, 2024.
During a press briefing that followed the event, Uday Samant emphasized the government's commitment to empowering women and fostering industrial growth in the Vidarbha region. “This initiative will not only encourage women entrepreneurs but also create opportunities for inclusive development,” said Samant, highlighting the strategic importance of Nagpur and the surrounding areas for industrial expansion.
The event, which took a comprehensive overview of the state's industrial progress, was attended by key industrial stakeholders, officials, and members of the media. Samant’s announcement marks a milestone in Maharashtra’s efforts to boost women’s participation in the industrial sector, further solidifying Nagpur’s position as a hub for new ventures.
The press conference took place at 12:20 pm at the Unplug Hall in Hotel Centre Point, where the minister addressed various questions from journalists regarding the new initiatives and the future of industrial development in the state.
