Nagpur: In a proactive move, Lakadganj Police arrested a 35-year-old man for unlawfully carrying a dangerous weapon near the Ganga-Jamuna Cement Road on Thursday, May 1 afternoon.
During a patrol at around 2:25 pm, police received information that a man was seen roaming the area with a weapon. Upon reaching the spot, officers saw a suspicious man fleeing the scene. He was chased down and detained.
The accused was identified as Ravindra Rambhau Yede, a resident of Sonegaon Lodhi, Post Ashta, Nagpur. A search in the presence of witnesses led to the discovery of a sharp iron knife (locally known as ‘hatimar’) concealed in his waistband, valued at approximately ₹300.
Police suspect that Yede was carrying the weapon with intent to commit a cognizable offense. He has been booked under Section 4/25 of the Indian Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act for violating prohibitory orders. He remains in custody as further investigation continues.
