Nagpur: Bajaj Nagar Police have arrested two youths for allegedly stealing a two-wheeler from the parking area near Dharampeth College Metro Station and recovered the stolen vehicle along with another scooter used in the crime.
According to police, the complainant, Sagar Sukhlal Gupta (29), a resident of Shantinagar Ward No. 11, Radegaon in Yavatmal district, currently residing at a ground-floor flat in Luvya Apartment near Mangalmurti Square in Nagpur, approached Bajaj Nagar Police Station to report the theft. He stated that his black Honda Activa (MH-29-CH-7121), valued at Rs 35,000, was stolen by two unidentified persons from the parking area near Dharampeth College Metro Station under the jurisdiction of Bajaj Nagar Police Station.
Based on his complaint, a case was registered at Bajaj Nagar Police Station under Crime No. 116/2025, Sections 303(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Accused Nabbed After Chase Near ITI
Acting on the instructions of senior officers, the detection team of Bajaj Nagar Police launched a search operation. On February 23, 2026, at around 11 am, police personnel spotted two suspicious youths riding two scooters between Kriplani Square and Mata Kacheri Square, near ITI.
One of the vehicles was a white Honda Activa (MH-49-AD-0973), while the other was a black Honda Activa (MH-29-CH-7121). On noticing the police team, the duo attempted to flee. However, the police chased them in a government vehicle and successfully apprehended both suspects.
Upon verification through the Naka-bandi app, the black Activa was confirmed to be the stolen vehicle linked to the registered offence. During interrogation at the police station, the accused initially gave evasive replies but later confessed to committing the theft.
The arrested accused have been identified as:
- Om alias Ravi Narendra Yede (20), residing on rent at Ganeshpeth Gadikhana, near Shri Maroti Temple, under Ganeshpeth Police Station limits in Nagpur city.
- Nihal Kamlesh Mhaisakar (19), resident of Plot No. 616, Gadikhana, Kherulal Wadi, under Ganeshpeth Police Station limits in Nagpur city.
Vehicles Worth Rs 65,000 Seized
Police seized the stolen black Honda Activa (MH-29-CH-7121) worth Rs 35,000 and the white Honda Activa (MH-49-AD-0973), valued at approximately Rs 30,000, which was allegedly used in committing the crime. The total value of seized vehicles stands at around Rs 65,000.
The action was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police S Rushikesh Reddy (Zone 1), senior officers of the Sonegaon Division, and Senior Police Inspector C.B. Chauhan of Bajaj Nagar Police Station. The operation was executed by PSI Deepak Pawar and members of the Bajaj Nagar Police detection team.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether the accused are involved in other vehicle theft cases in the city.
