Nagpur: In a swift late-night rescue operation, an injured deer was saved after being spotted inside the campus of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) on Monday, February 23, at around 9 pm.
According to information received, the security in-charge of the VNIT campus alerted members of the Wildlife Welfare Society after noticing a deer near Quarter No. 43 of Mira Dabhi. Acting promptly on the tip-off, Wildlife Welfare Society members Gaurang Waikar, Bhushan Mahule, Rohit Humnapatkar, Akash Sonkule, and Pratiksha Ganvir rushed to the spot.
Upon inspection, the team found the deer injured and immediately informed the Transit Treatment Centre. Forest Department Round Officer Asawale, along with staff members Bandu Mangar, Swapnil Bhure, and Ashish Mahalle, reached the location without delay.
The joint team safely captured the injured deer and shifted it to the Transit Treatment Centre at Seminary Hills for further medical treatment.
Personnel from Bajaj Nagar Police Station, including Nitin Bante and Pankaj Rathod, were also present during the rescue operation to assist in maintaining order and ensuring the safety of all involved.
Officials stated that timely coordination between wildlife volunteers, forest authorities, and police personnel helped save the life of the injured animal. Further updates on the deer’s condition are awaited.
