Two Women Seriously Injured After Tipper Truck Hits E-Rickshaw in Nagpur, Driver Flees

Nagpur: Yashodhara Nagar Police have registered a case against an unidentified tipper truck driver after a serious road accident left an e-rickshaw driver and two women passengers injured.


According to police, the accident took place between 1:15 pm and 1:20 pm on June 17 near District Biryani Shop in Yashodhara Nagar police limits.


Complainant Mohan Keshav Nayak (28), a resident of Om Nagar, Jaripatka, was driving his rented e-rickshaw (MH-49-BM-5059) carrying two female passengers.


Police said a tipper truck (MH-40-BL-8219) approaching from behind was allegedly being driven at high speed in a rash and negligent manner. While overtaking, the truck allegedly hit the e-rickshaw from the right side, causing it to overturn.


The complainant sustained injuries to his hand, shoulder and right leg, while both women passengers suffered serious injuries.


The truck driver allegedly fled the scene immediately after the accident. Local residents shifted the injured women to Hope Hospital for treatment, while the complainant was treated at Mayo Hospital.


Based on the complaint, Yashodhara Nagar Police registered a case under Sections 281, 125(a), 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.


Further investigation is underway.
