Nagpur: An elderly man was robbed of his 4-tola gold chain worth approximately ₹1.69 lakh by two unidentified motorcycle-borne snatchers in the Dhantoli area of Nagpur on Wednesday evening.

According to Dhantoli Police, the victim has been identified as Bandu Khushalrao Mandpe (63), a tent decoration contractor and resident of Ajni Chowk.

The incident occurred between 8.30 pm and 9 pm on July 8 near Jain Medical, close to Lokmat Chowk under the jurisdiction of Dhantoli Police Station.

As per the complaint, Mandpe was walking on the road when two unidentified men approached him from behind on a motorcycle. While the rider slowed down, the pillion rider allegedly gave a sudden and forceful jerk, snatching the victim’s 4-tola gold chain from his neck before the duo sped away.

The stolen chain is estimated to be worth ₹1,69,380.

Based on the victim’s complaint, Dhantoli Police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the two unidentified accused.

Police are examining CCTV footage from the area and have launched a search to identify and apprehend the chain snatchers. Further investigation is underway.
