Nagpur: In yet another blow to traffic management on Shaheed Gowari Flyover, a truck got stuck into a newly installed height barrier near Rahate Colony Square on Wednesday, May 4 — just a day after a petrol-filled tanker had collided with a similar structure on the opposite side of the flyover.

The latest incident occurred around 1:30 pm when a truck (MH27X2714), travelling from Zero Mile towards Wardha Road, struck the 3-metre-high height restriction barrier. As a result, one lane of the flyover — connecting Rahate Colony to Zero Mile Square — was completely shut, leading to hours-long traffic congestion in the area.

This marks the third such incident on the same flyover stretch in the past 10 months.

Despite the presence of warning signage and speed-reducing rumble strips, the truck driver failed to slow down in time, police officials said. The barrier that caused the obstruction had been installed just a day earlier, during the early hours of Tuesday, May 3.

The incident closely follows a similar crash involving a Reliance Petroleum tanker (MH31 FC 4161), carrying 23,000 litres of petrol, which collided with the height barrier while travelling from Khapri to RBI Square on Tuesday afternoon. That barrier too had been freshly installed around 2 am on the same day.

Although no injuries were reported in either case, repeated collisions with these newly installed structures have raised serious safety concerns. Authorities are now reviewing the design, visibility, and placement of the barriers, as well as evaluating driver awareness on the route to prevent further incidents.
