Nagpur: In a late-night crackdown, Jaripatka Police apprehended a woman for illegal possession of MD (Mephedrone) powder, intended for sale, from her residence in Lumbini Nagar, Nagpur. The estimated value of the seized contraband is ₹89,860.
Around 11:30 pm on Thursday, June 5, while patrolling the area, Jaripatka Police received a tip-off about MD powder being stored for sale at the house of one Anil Gajbhiye. Acting on the information, the police team reached the location and found the accused, identified as Priti Anil Gajbhiye (45), at home.
A search conducted in the presence of panch witnesses led to the recovery of 44.93 grams of MD powder hidden in a zip-lock pouch in a kitchen container. The accused confessed to possessing the contraband for financial gain.
Police registered a case against Gajbhiye under Sections 8(c) and 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. She has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of DCP Niketan Kadam and ACP Satyawan Bandiwar, with the active participation of PI Arun Kshirsagar, PSI Shashikant Tayade, and other personnel including constables Pankaj Thakur, Tarang Sharma, Pramod, Mangesh, Rahul Chouhan, and Namisha.
