Nagpur: In a determined move to curb ticketless and irregular travel, the Commercial Department of Central Railway’s Nagpur Division conducted a major ticket-checking drive on Thursday, June 19.
The operation was led by Alok Kumar Jha, Head Travelling Examiner (TE), Nagpur, as part of his scheduled squad duty in the Itarsi–Nagpur section.
During the day-long drive, intensive checking was carried out on four prominent trains—12792, 22670, 12296, and 03259. As a result, 100 passengers were found traveling without tickets, and 60 passengers were found occupying sleeper class coaches on general class tickets.
A total penalty of ₹1,38,600 was recovered from the erring passengers during the drive. The action highlights the department’s continued efforts to ensure revenue protection and adherence to travel norms.
Such surprise drives not only deter irregular travel but also encourage passengers to follow proper ticketing practices. Central Railway appeals to all travelers to carry valid tickets and travel ethically to avoid inconvenience.
More such intensive checks are planned in the coming days to ensure compliance and smooth travel for genuine passengers.
