Nagpur: Amid rising temperatures in the city, Nagpur Police have registered three separate cases of suspected sunstroke-related deaths after unidentified men were found unconscious in different parts of the city over the last two days. The deceased were rushed to hospitals for treatment but were later declared dead by doctors. Police have initiated accidental death inquiries in all the cases while efforts are underway to establish the identities of the deceased.
According to police officials, the first incident was reported under Tahsil Police Station limits on May 18, 2026, when an unidentified man aged around 40 years was found unconscious near Toprechi Vihir in the Timki area at around 1:20 am. Police shifted him to Mayo Hospital for treatment, where he died during treatment on May 20 at around 2:50 pm.
In another case under Tahsil Police Station jurisdiction, an unidentified man aged approximately 50 years was found unconscious near Chuna Masjid in Hansapuri at around 10:28 pm on May 19. He was admitted to Mayo Hospital but succumbed during treatment on May 20 at around 11 am.
A third similar incident was reported under Ganeshpeth Police Station limits on May 20 at around 6:50 pm. An unidentified man aged between 50 and 55 years was found unconscious near Sai Pan Shop on the road leading to Rahul Complex. Police described the deceased as having a dark complexion, medium build, around 5 feet 4 inches tall, with black hair, wearing a white shirt with black dots and black trousers. He was taken to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead before treatment.
Police suspect that extreme heat and possible sunstroke may have contributed to the deaths, though the exact cause will be confirmed after further medical examination and investigation. Accidental death cases have been registered in all three incidents, and police are attempting to identify the deceased individuals.
