Nagpur: A 17-year-old girl was killed and her father seriously injured after an unidentified truck allegedly rammed their motorcycle from behind on Wardha Road under the Hingna Police Station limits on Sunday evening.
The accident occurred around 5.30 pm on September 13 near Dr Raju Deshmukh’s farmhouse on Wardha Road. According to the police complaint, Anil Shankarrao Meshram (51), a resident of Pandhrabodi, Ramnagar, was travelling on his Honda Shine motorcycle (MH-31-FY-0329) with his daughter Anushka Anil Meshram (17) riding pillion.
While they were passing the area, an unidentified truck driver allegedly drove the vehicle at high speed and in a negligent manner before crashing into the motorcycle from behind.
The impact caused Meshram and his daughter to fall onto the road along with the motorcycle, leaving both seriously injured. They were rushed to AIIMS Hospital, MIHAN, for treatment. However, doctors examined Anushka and declared her dead.
Her father is currently undergoing treatment.
Based on Meshram’s complaint, PSI Nilesh Awate registered a case at Hingna Police Station against the unidentified truck driver under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 134, 177 and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police are investigating the accident and efforts are underway to identify and trace the truck and its driver.
