Nagpur: The DJ at Hitchki Bar and Restaurant in Sadar was found operating at a noise level of 100.6 decibels, far above the prescribed limit, prompting Nagpur Police to book the DJ operator and restaurant manager. The action was carried out by the Escort Team of Nagpur Police following a tip received by Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil.

Acting on the information, the Escort Team conducted a raid at Hitchki Bar and Restaurant, located in the Park Avenue building, between 12.30 am and 1.30 am on September 13. During the raid, police found a DJ being played at a high volume on the 13th floor of the building.

Police measured the sound level from the 12th floor using a sound intensity meter in the presence of witnesses. The reading was recorded at 100.6 decibels, which was found to be above the permissible limit.

The police immediately stopped the DJ and identified the operator as Deep Shankarrao More (22), a resident of Shrikrishna Nagar, Wathoda, and the restaurant manager as Abhay Keshav Virkhede (44), a resident of Kolte Layout, Godhni Road, Mankapur.

The DJ equipment was seized from More’s possession. Police said the accused were found violating the prescribed noise limits as well as the prohibition order issued by the Police Commissioner regarding sound amplification.

Following a complaint lodged by police personnel Anup Lolusare, a case was registered against the accused at Sadar Police Station. Further investigation is underway.

The action was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil by API Bhagwan Koli, PSI Pravinkumar Dahale, Anup Lolusare, Arshad Sheikh, Someshwar Nikhare, Rajesh Ghongade, Sahil Bhoyar, Nitin Nare and Vishnu Khatke.
