Nagpur: Gold jewellery, silver ornaments and cash worth approximately ₹14.15 lakh were stolen from a locked house in Dahipura Layout under the Imamwada Police Station limits after the occupants left the city to visit relatives in Chandrapur.
The burglary took place between 11 am on September 12 and 7.35 am on September 13 at the house of Milind Namdeorao Kamble (65), located at Plot No. 129, Dahipura Layout, Untkhana, Imamwada.
According to the complaint, Kamble had locked his house and left with his family for Ballarshah in Chandrapur to visit his son’s in-laws. During their absence, an unidentified thief allegedly broke open the lock of the main door and entered the house.
The burglar reportedly targeted the bedroom and broke open the iron cupboard, from where the accused allegedly stole ₹75,000 in cash, gold jewellery weighing approximately 256.5 grams and silver ornaments.
The total value of the stolen property has been estimated at ₹14,15,500.
Following Kamble’s complaint, PSI Nikhil Chafle registered a case against an unidentified accused at Imamwada Police Station under Sections 305, 331(3) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police are searching for the accused and conducting further investigation.
