Nagpur: The Central Government has implemented the Prime Minister's SuryaGhar - Free Electricity Scheme, which provides beneficiaries with 300 units of free electricity every month. To raise awareness about this scheme among electricity consumers, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) organized a scooter rally in the Nandanvan area here on Tuesday.
The rally, led by Executive Engineer Sameer Tekade from the Mahal Division, saw participation from Additional Executive Engineer Dheeraj Barapatre, Assistant Engineers Rohini Baiskar, Prashant Giripunje, Yogesh Itankar, Pravin Telang, Shrikant Bahadure, and Vikram Urade, along with a large number of technical and non-technical staff from the subdivision.
School and college students also joined the rally in significant numbers. During the rally, information about the scheme was disseminated to residents of Nandanvan and surrounding areas, with an appeal to use environmentally friendly electricity.
Under the Prime Minister's SuryaGhar Free Electricity Scheme, the Central Government provides subsidies of up to Rs 78,000 to electricity consumers who install rooftop solar power projects. The subsidy amounts to Rs 30,000 for a 1-kilowatt project, Rs 60,000 for a 2-kilowatt project, and Rs 78,000 for a project of 3 kilowatts or more.
The electricity generated by these rooftop solar projects can be used in the household, resulting in zero electricity bills due to excess power generation. Moreover, any additional electricity can be sold back to MSEDCL, benefiting the environment while providing financial savings to consumers. During the rally, citizens were urged to participate in the Prime Minister's SuryaGhar - Free Electricity Scheme and take advantage of MSEDCL's rooftop solar initiatives to save on electricity costs and protect the environment.
