Nandanvan Police Arrest Burglar; Property Worth ₹4.55 Lakh Recovered in Nagpur

Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, Nandanvan Police arrested a 23-year-old man involved in a house burglary and recovered stolen property worth ₹4.55 lakh, including gold and silver ornaments and a stolen motorcycle.


The burglary took place between July 2 and July 11, 2025, at a locked house located at Plot No. 47, Vidya Nagar, Wathoda Layout in the Nandanvan area. The complainant, Akshay Kishor Ambade (34), reported that his father-in-law, Babu Rao Narayan Khobragade (62), had locked the house and left for Mumbai with his wife. During this period, unidentified thieves broke the front door lock and stole ₹1.5 lakh in cash and gold jewellery worth ₹8.65 lakh from a bedroom cupboard.


Based on technical investigation and specific inputs, police arrested the accused, Afroz Shamshad Ansari, a resident of Ambenagar, Pardi. During interrogation, he confessed to committing the crime. Further questioning revealed that he was also involved in two more burglaries within city limits and a vehicle theft under the jurisdiction of Sakkardara Police Station.


Police recovered stolen property from his possession, including gold and silver jewellery, a gold pendant, and a Hero Honda Splendor Plus (MP 28 MQ 7584) motorcycle, collectively valued at ₹4.55 lakh.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP Shivajirao Rathod (South Division), DCP Rashmita Rao (Zone 4), and ACP Narendra Hivare (Sakkardara Division). The arrest team included PI Vinayak Koli, PSI Pradeep Kait, and officers Ashish Titarmare, Sanjay Varvade, Pradeep Bhadade, Someshwar Ghughal and Sanjay Mukadam.


Further investigation is ongoing.
