Nagpur: The Social Security Branch (SSB) of the Crime Branch, Nagpur City, busted online sex racket being operated through a website named “Nagpur Indica Services” during a late-night raid conducted under “Operation Shakti.” Two women from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh were rescued during the action, police said.
The raid was carried out at OYO Flagship Krishna Hotel, located near Hotel Rahul Deluxe under the jurisdiction of Ganeshpeth Police Station between 7:59 pm on May 6 and 2:59 am on May 7.
According to the Crime Branch, the racket was allegedly being operated online through the “Nagpur Indica Services” website by an accused believed to be from Jharkhand. Police said the accused lured women into prostitution by promising quick money and financial benefits.
A case has been registered at Ganeshpeth Police Station under Crime No. 141/2026 under Sections 143(2)(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, and Sections 66(C)(D) of the IT Act.
Police identified the wanted accused as a man identified as “Raj” from Jharkhand and the holder of the mobile number linked to the website. During the operation, police seized cash and other material collectively valued at Rs 6,730.
Officials said the rescued women, hailing from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, were medically examined and later handed over to Ganeshpeth Police Station for further investigation and legal action.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Inspector Rahul Shire of the Social Security Branch, Crime Branch, Nagpur City. The team included NPC Sheshrao Raut, Police Constables Ashwin Mange, Kunal Masram, Sameer Sheikh, Kunal Bodkhe, and Woman Head Constable Aarti Chauhan.
The crackdown is part of the ongoing “Operation Shakti” campaign launched by the Nagpur Police Commissionerate to dismantle human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation networks operating in the city.
