Nagpur Crime Branch Solves House Burglary Case, Teen Accused Arrested With Stolen Gold, Silver Jewellery

Nagpur: The Crime Branch Unit 5 of Nagpur Police has successfully solved a house burglary case reported under the jurisdiction of Bhandewadi Police Station and arrested a 19-year-old accused involved in the theft. Police recovered stolen gold and silver jewellery along with a weapon collectively valued at Rs 1.92 lakh.


According to police, the burglary took place between 9 am on April 29 and 12 noon on May 3 at a house located near Uday School in Antuji Nagar, Nagpur. The complainant, Pooja Shyamlal Kanodiya, aged 50, had locked her residence and travelled with her family to Shivni in Madhya Pradesh to visit relatives.


During her absence, unidentified burglars allegedly broke the main door lock, entered the house, and stole gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 59,000 from an iron cupboard kept inside the bedroom.


Based on the complaint, Bhandewadi Police Station registered a case against unidentified accused under Sections 305(A), 331(3), and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).


Accused Held During Patrol

During the parallel investigation, officers and personnel from Crime Branch Unit 5 were patrolling in the Bhandewadi area when they detained a suspicious youth near Nageshwar Nagar Ground.


On questioning, the suspect identified himself as Sameer Nizam Ansari, aged 19, resident of Plot No. 76, Rani Sati Society, Bhandewadi, Nagpur.


Police conducted a search in the presence of witnesses and recovered a sharp iron knife hidden at his waist along with gold and silver jewellery from his trouser pocket.


During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to committing the burglary along with his associate, identified as wanted accused Irfan Shamshad Ansari, a resident of Bhandewadi, Nagpur.


Jewellery and Weapon Seized

Police seized the following items from the accused:

  • One sharp iron knife
  • Gold ornaments
  • Silver jewellery

The total value of the recovered property is estimated at Rs 1,92,300.

The accused and seized property have been handed over to Bhandewadi Police Station for further legal action. Police said further investigation in the case is underway.


Crime Branch Team Behind the Operation

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil.


The action was led by Police Inspector Vinayak Golhe and his team from Crime Branch Unit 5.
