Nagpur: A 40-year-old man drowned while bathing in Sonegaon Lake on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Satish Raviprasad Tripathi (40), a resident of Civil Lines, Nagpur. According to police, he had gone to Sonegaon Lake within Sonegaon Police Station limits at around 3.50 pm on March 1, 2026, along with his friend Roshan Laxman Goyale (36), a resident of Bajrang Nagar, Ajni.

While bathing in the lake, Tripathi reportedly got stuck in sludge and drowned. Fire brigade personnel later retrieved his body from the water. The body was sent to AIIMS Hospital for further procedures.

Based on information provided by the friend, Sonegaon Police have registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation is ongoing.
