Shantinagar Police Arrest Man Roaming With Knife, Creating Panic in Locality

Nagpur: In another incident, the Shantinagar Police Station arrested a man for allegedly roaming in public with a deadly weapon and creating fear among residents in the Shantinagar area.


According to police officials, the Shantinagar investigation team was patrolling the locality between 8 AM and 8:30 AM on May 13 when they received information about a man brandishing a weapon near Hamid Kalya’s house in Lalnagar, Shantinagar.


Accused Detained With Iron Knife

Police immediately rushed to the spot and found a man allegedly abusing passersby while carrying an iron knife in his hand.


With the help of police staff, the accused was overpowered and disarmed.


During questioning, the accused identified himself as Abdul Rehman alias Rammu Abdul Razak (36), a resident of Muliyar Layout near Naresh Pan Stall in Shantinagar.


Police seized an iron knife worth approximately ₹500 from his possession.

A case has been registered under Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act for allegedly carrying the weapon with intent to commit a cognizable offence and violating prohibitory orders.


The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is ongoing under the supervision of Sub-Inspector B. P. Avhale.
