Nagpur: The Regional Transport Rural Office is delivering services to vehicle owners, drivers, and applicants within the stipulated time frames as per regulations, refuting allegations made by transport businessmen as baseless. Regional Transport Officer Vijay Kathole clarified on Monday that no complaints are pending with this office.
Transport business associations and the Nagpur Truckers Unity had accused the Regional Transport Office of causing inconvenience to vehicle owners and drivers due to officer absenteeism. In response, the Transport Office issued a fact-based clarification. Despite some vacancies for Assistant Regional Transport Officers, active officers are handling the responsibilities of processing applications and resolving cases, ensuring daily tasks are completed within specified time frames, stated Kathole.
Offices in all talukas under the jurisdiction of the Regional Transport Rural Office, as well as the main office, are conducting operations according to the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 and its regulations. As of July 24, 2024, the office has detailed actions taken on various service applications from vehicle owners, license holders, and applicants. This includes 3,061 applications for vehicle registration (through vehicle dealers), 1,179 applications for vehicle transfer records, and 894 applications for fitness certificates (for transport vehicles), among others, covering 29 service categories.
Additionally, detailed information on various types of licenses issued to drivers and applicants up to July 24, 2024, has been provided. This includes 3,488 applications for temporary licenses, 1,192 applications for new licenses, and 877 applications for license renewals, totaling 22 types of licenses processed. Addressing the accusations made by the Nagpur Truckers Unity, Kathole emphasized that the Regional Transport Rural Office is committed to providing services to the general public within the designated time frames.
