Umred: In a late-night action, police raided Hotel Respiro near Kuhi Phata on the Umred–Nagpur National Highway and seized illegal liquor and hookah pots valued at over ₹1 lakh. The raid was carried out at around 12.20 am on August 17.

Police acted on a tip-off that liquor and hookah were being served illegally to customers at the hotel. During the search, officers recovered half-filled liquor bottles from tables, three bottles of different brands from the kitchen, 14 hookah pots, plastic chairs and other items, collectively worth ₹1,02,650.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Harsh Poddar and Additional SP Anil Maske, with SDPO Vrushti Jain leading the raiding team.

Hotel owner Amitkumar Omprakash Roy, along with Rahul Katakwar, Satish Tapeshwar Sharma and Sunil Indrabhadur Singh, has been booked under relevant provisions. Kuhi Police Station has taken up the case, and further investigation is underway.
