Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, Pachpaoli Police have arrested a 19-year-old accused involved in a house burglary and multiple vehicle thefts, solving five cases across different police station jurisdictions in Nagpur. Stolen property worth ₹4.80 lakh has been recovered.

The case came to light after a complaint was lodged by Rohan Rajendra Waghmare (29), a resident of Barse Nagar, Pachpaoli. Between 12:30 pm on February 6 and 9:30 am on February 7, 2026, an unidentified thief broke open the rear door of his ground-floor residence while he was asleep upstairs.

The accused decamped with ₹60,000 in cash and gold and silver ornaments collectively valued at ₹3.25 lakh. Based on the complaint, Pachpaoli Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against unknown persons.

During the investigation, the police team conducted technical analysis and worked on credible inputs, leading to the detention of Anshul alias Anup Devaji Wakde (19), a resident of Ghasiyari Pura, Lashkaribagh, Pachpaoli.

Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to committing the house burglary. Further questioning revealed his involvement in four additional vehicle thefts — one from Pachpaoli (Hero Honda Splendor MH-31-BG-5776), one from Nandanvan (MH-49-BS-9925), one from Tehsil police limits (Activa MH-31-DY-9952), and one from Wadi police limits at Dattawadi (MH-40-AS-4099).

Police recovered ₹17,000 in cash, stolen gold and silver ornaments, and four two-wheelers from his possession. The total value of recovered property is estimated at ₹4.80 lakh.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether the accused is linked to additional crimes.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior Nagpur Police officials, including the Commissioner of Police and other supervisory officers, by the Pachpaoli Police investigation team.
