Nagpur: In a significant push towards accessible healthcare, the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund has extended financial aid of approximately ₹19.79 crore to 2,320 patients in Nagpur district during the financial year. The initiative, driven by the vision of Devendra Fadnavis, has emerged as a crucial support system for eligible and needy patients who were unable to avail benefits under other government health schemes.
Key administrative reforms such as the establishment of district-level cells, introduction of a paperless application process, and expedited disposal of applications have streamlined the system. These measures have enhanced transparency and significantly accelerated the distribution of funds, ensuring timely assistance to a larger number of beneficiaries.
The scheme provides financial support for treatment of 20 critical illnesses, including cochlear implant procedures for children aged 2 to 6 years, organ transplants (heart, liver, kidney, lungs, bone marrow), knee and hip replacements, cancer surgeries and therapies (chemotherapy and radiation), dialysis, neurological disorders, neonatal care, burn injuries, and accident-related treatments.
Further strengthening the initiative, a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund Cell, BPCL Foundation, and Tata Memorial Centre to support pediatric cancer treatment. The agreement will facilitate dedicated funding through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), easing financial burdens and ensuring quality treatment for underprivileged children.
Statewide, between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, a total of 40,776 patients received medical assistance amounting to ₹333.06 crore. Of these, Nagpur district alone accounted for aid worth ₹19.79 crore distributed among 2,320 patients.
Officials from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund Cell have urged eligible patients to avail the benefits of the scheme and seek further information through the toll-free helpline number 1800-123-2211.
