Nagpur: Acting swiftly during late-night patrolling, Pachpaoli Police arrested a 24-year-old youth for possessing mephedrone (MD) powder in a public place at Lashkaribagh.

The incident took place on August 2, 2025, around 2:20 AM, when police spotted a man loitering suspiciously in the area. On being questioned, he identified himself as Manish Pappu Samudre (resident of Samta Maidan, Pachpaoli). In the presence of panch witnesses, a personal search led to the recovery of 3.10 grams of MD powder in a zip-lock pouch from his trouser pocket. Police also seized his mobile phone.

The total seizure, including the narcotics and phone, is valued at ₹25,500. Investigations revealed that Samudre was in possession of the drug for sale with the help of wanted accused Amit Gajbhiye (resident of Lashkaribagh) for financial gain.

A case has been registered under Sections 8(c), 22(b), and 29 of the NDPS Act, and the accused has been arrested. Further investigation is underway.

This action was carried out under the guidance of Additional CP (North) Rajendra Dabhade, DCP Rahul Madne (Zone 3), and ACP Shweta Khade (Lakdaganj Division), by a team comprising PI Baburao Raut, PSI Akshay Thopte, HC Dilip Pawar, HC Vasudev Jaipurkar, HC Prakash Pakhan, HC Ankush Rathod, PC Ashish Bawankar, WPC Preeti Thorat, and driver HC Chhatrapati.
