Nagpur Traffic Diversions on August 15: Routes Around Futala Lake Changed for Independence Day Celebrations

Nagpur: Traffic movement around Futala Lake in Nagpur will be diverted on August 15 in view of the Independence Day celebrations, the Nagpur Traffic Police said. The restrictions have been imposed to manage the expected heavy crowd and ensure smooth traffic movement around the venue.


According to a traffic police notification issued on August 12, diversions will be in place from 12.01 am to midnight on August 15, 2026, covering roads from the Ambazari turn towards Futala Lake, Futala Lake T-Point and the North Futala Bridge via the Vayusena Nagar route up to South Futala near the banyan tree.


Traffic diversions in Nagpur


1. Wadi Naka–Futala route:

Traffic travelling from Wadi Naka towards Futala Lake will be diverted via Old Wadi Naka–Ravinagar. Vehicles approaching from Bharat Nagar will be diverted via Amravati Road, Ravinagar Mahadev Temple and Vayusena Nagar.


2. Amravati Road–Campus Chowk route:

Traffic travelling from Amravati towards Futala Lake via Campus Chowk will instead be diverted straight through Bharat Nagar Square.


3. Futala Y-Point–South Futala route:

Traffic travelling from Futala Y-Point towards the banyan tree area at South Futala will be diverted by taking a left turn from Telangkhedi Hanuman Temple or Cycle Chowk and proceeding via Ambazari.


Similarly, traffic travelling from Ramgiri towards Amravati Road will be diverted by taking a left turn at Cycle Chowk and proceeding via Ambazari.


The Traffic Police said the diversions have been introduced to prevent traffic congestion and avoid inconvenience, obstruction or danger to citizens during the Independence Day celebrations.


Motorists in Nagpur have been urged to follow the traffic restrictions and cooperate with the police to avoid inconvenience.
