Nagpur: Emphasising transparent, accountable and dynamic governance, Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Friday said the government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of development reach every section of society, while actively involving citizens in the governance process.
He was addressing the main state programme held at the Divisional Commissioner’s office premises in Nagpur on the occasion of Maharashtra Day. The event marked the state’s foundation day with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.
Highlighting the state’s progress, Bawankule said that under the guidance of Narendra Modi and the leadership vision of Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra has achieved significant milestones across sectors at a global level. He added that the government has rolled out several people-centric schemes to uphold social equality, constitutional values, and citizen-friendly administration.
“Efforts are underway to ensure that no citizen is deprived of government schemes. We aim to deliver a governance model that is transparent, responsible, and efficient,” he stated.
The Guardian Minister further asserted that Nagpur will be developed into a strong ‘growth hub’ in the coming years. He credited Nitin Gadkari for bringing key infrastructure and development projects to Vidarbha, while noting that substantial budgetary allocations by the state government have accelerated regional growth.
In a major announcement, Bawankule said a grand ‘Film City’ project will be developed at Navergaon in Ramtek to boost tourism and generate local employment. Additional funds have also been earmarked for Phase 2 of the Ramtek development plan. He further revealed that the government has decided to establish a ‘New Nagpur Trade and Financial Centre’, which is expected to open new avenues for economic growth.
Speaking on the broader development roadmap, he said Chief Minister Fadnavis has laid out key pillars for a “Developed Maharashtra,” focusing on sustainability, inclusivity, good governance, and rapid growth. The state budget prioritises farmer loan waivers, sustainable agriculture, infrastructure development, women empowerment, river-linking projects, green technology, urban expansion, and startup promotion.
Bawankule also highlighted energy initiatives, stating that a dedicated company has been set up for farmers to implement a 16,000 MW distributed power supply scheme. Notably, Maharashtra accounts for 60% of the country’s solar water pumps, and the state aims to generate 52% of its electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030.
The programme was attended by several dignitaries, including Mayor Nita Thakre, Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari, Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Special Inspector General Sandeep Patil, Municipal Commissioner Vipin Itankar, along with senior officials, public representatives, and freedom fighters.
During the event, officers and employees who demonstrated exemplary service were felicitated by the Guardian Minister.
