Nagpur: A late-evening outing ended in tragedy when a Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) e-bus struck a motorcycle carrying three college students near LAD College on Wednesday, killing one and critically injuring the other two.

The deceased was identified as Yash Vyankant Paunikar (22) of Lalganj Mehendibag, Sahabalal Wadi. His friends Harsh Rajesh Maudekar (21) of Dahi Bazar and Atul Ghanshyam Kapade (22) of Kumbharpura remain in critical condition.

Police said the trio had visited Balodyan in Seminary Hills and later stopped at Futala Lake. As dusk fell, they started home on their bike (MH 49 V 8025) with Harsh at the wheel. Around 6 p.m., while passing the LAD College bus stop, their motorcycle collided with an NMC e-bus (MH 49 BZ 2762) operating between Friends Colony and Pipla Phata. The impact was so strong that the bike became wedged in the bus’s front wheels.

All three were rushed to Mayo Hospital, where Yash was declared dead on arrival. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.
