Nagpur: In view of ongoing infrastructure upgrades, the Nagpur Railway Station has announced a temporary restriction on the sale of platform tickets for 51 days, from April 10 to May 30, 2026.
The decision comes as construction work is currently underway at Platform No. 2, where the concourse area is being developed by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA). Due to this work, Platform No. 2 will remain temporarily closed.
Move Aimed at Crowd Control During Summer Rush
Railway officials stated that the restriction has been imposed considering the expected surge in passenger traffic during the summer season. By limiting platform access, authorities aim to reduce overcrowding, streamline passenger movement, and enhance safety within station premises.
Platform Tickets Still Allowed for Essential Assistance
Despite the restriction, the railway administration has ensured that passenger support remains unaffected. Platform tickets will still be issued in special cases, including for attendants accompanying:
- Senior citizens
- Sick or ailing passengers
- Children
- Illiterate individuals
- Women passengers needing assistance
This step ensures that vulnerable passengers continue to receive necessary help during travel.
Instructions Issued to Staff, Notices in Hindi and Marathi
Authorities have directed all railway staff to effectively communicate the temporary restrictions and assist passengers wherever needed.
Additionally, information regarding the restriction will be prominently displayed across the station in Hindi and Marathi for public awareness.
Passenger Advisory
Passengers are advised to:
- Avoid unnecessary visits to platforms
- Plan travel in advance
- Follow station guidelines during the construction period
Focus on Safety and Infrastructure Upgrade
The temporary restriction reflects the Central Railway’s efforts to balance infrastructure development with passenger safety. Once completed, the upgraded concourse at Nagpur Railway Station is expected to improve passenger convenience and station capacity significantly.
