Nagpur: Continuing its crackdown on narcotics under the campaign “Operation Thunder – Let Us Unite, Let Us Build a Drug-Free Society,” conceptualised by Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal, the Tehsil Police arrested two accused in separate operations and seized MD (Mephedrone) powder and other valuables worth over ₹5.32 lakh.
First Arrest: MD Powder Worth ₹1.23 Lakh Seized Near Eidgah
On June 25, 2026, at around 6.55 pm, officers from the Tehsil Police investigation team were conducting an anti-narcotics drive as part of the Anti-Drug Week campaign. During patrolling, they received credible information that a man aged around 20-25 years, wearing a black T-shirt and blue trousers, was standing near the area behind Eidgah, opposite the railway quarters in the Tehsil police station limits, allegedly intending to sell narcotics.
The police team reached the spot in the presence of panch witnesses and found a man matching the description. On noticing the police, he attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended.
During interrogation, he identified himself as Mohammad Sufiyan Mohammad Nasir (25), a resident of Boriapura, near Garib Nawaz Masjid, Tahsil, Nagpur.
Following all procedures under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, police conducted his search and recovered 12.25 grams of MD powder concealed in a zip-lock pouch in his trouser pocket. The seized contraband is valued at ₹1,23,400.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 8(c) and 21(b) of the NDPS Act. He has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.

When questioned, the individual identified himself as Mohammad Shayan Nadeem Saifi (28), a resident of Saifi Nagar, opposite Ashrafi Medical, Tehsil, Nagpur.
As the suspect gave evasive replies and police strongly suspected that he possessed narcotics, they conducted a search of both the accused and the vehicle in the presence of panch witnesses, strictly adhering to the NDPS Act procedures.
The search led to the recovery of 3.86 grams of MD powder packed in a zip-lock pouch. Police also seized a mobile phone and the Maruti Suzuki Swift car. The total value of the seized property is estimated at ₹4,08,600.
