1.4-km Elevated Metro Corridor Planned for Kanhan

Under the approved proposal, an elevated metro rail corridor of approximately 1.40 kilometres will be constructed between Kanhan River and Kanhan City in Nagpur district. The extension will include one elevated metro station.

The project has an estimated completion cost of ₹310.35 crore and will be implemented by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) after receiving approval from the Central Government.

Boost to Connectivity in Nagpur’s Kanhan Region

The metro extension is aimed at strengthening public transport infrastructure in the Kanhan area of Nagpur district, improving connectivity for residents and facilitating faster, safer and more efficient commuting options.

The approval is expected to further expand the reach of the Nagpur Metro network and support the region’s growing urban and industrial development.

During the same meeting, the committee also approved the construction of a 3.55-km connector road linking the Swatantryaveer Savarkar Sea Link with Bandra Fort in Mumbai, a project estimated to cost ₹1,722.40 crore. The connector is expected to reduce travel time on the route from 20-45 minutes to around 10 minutes.
