Nagpur: In a major breakthrough in a murder case reported under Kapil Nagar Police Station limits, the Crime Branch Unit 2 of Nagpur Police has arrested two wanted accused involved in the brutal killing of a man following a violent altercation.
According to police reports, the incident dates back to October 25, 2025, when the complainant Pintu Suresh Rajput (32), a resident of Nari Vasti near Ganesh Mandir in Nagpur, had gone on a picnic to Mansar along with his friends. After returning to Nagpur, Rajput dropped two of his friends near Takshashila Ghat and was heading home with another friend, Rajesh Ishwas Orekar (48).
Between 9:30 PM and 10:00 PM, when they reached MHADA Colony near Building No. 10 under Kapil Nagar Police Station limits, their car accidentally collided with a parked e-rickshaw near a water tank, causing minor damage. This led to an argument between the complainant and the e-rickshaw owner.
During the altercation, a group of individuals identified as Harshal, Tabba, Lucky, Rabha, and their associates arrived at the spot and began assaulting the complainant and his friend. As Rajesh Orekar attempted to flee, the accused chased him and, with the intention to kill, attacked him with a knife, inflicting गंभीर injuries. He was immediately rushed to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead after examination.
Based on the complaint filed by Pintu Rajput, Kapil Nagar Police registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act.
During the parallel investigation, officers and staff of Crime Branch Unit 2 received credible information that two of the accused were present near Dharagaon on Jabalpur Bypass Road in Nagpur. Acting on this tip-off, police laid a trap and successfully apprehended the suspects.
The arrested accused have been identified as Kalpesh Suraj Rabha (22), a resident of Gaikwad Layout, Nari Road, and Nipin alias Honey Deepak Thakur (26), a resident of Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar, Nari Road, both under Kapil Nagar limits. During interrogation, both accused confessed to committing the crime in coordination with their accomplices. They had been absconding since the incident.
Police also seized two mobile phones worth ₹18,000 from their possession. The accused have been handed over to Kapil Nagar Police for further legal proceedings, and the investigation is ongoing to trace other absconding accused involved in the case.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior officials including Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil. The team was led by Police Inspector Shubhangi Deshmukh along with other officers and staff who played a crucial role in solving the case.
