Nagpur: A horrific domestic violence case shook the Nandanvan area when a man attempted to kill his wife by slitting her throat before trying to take his own life here, on Monday, February 17. Their 14-year-old son, who tried to intervene, was also injured.
The accused, Ravi Nandurkar (36), a stitcher, lived with his wife Pinky (36) and two sons in a rented house in Juna Bagadganj. Around 4 AM on Monday, Ravi allegedly attacked Pinky while she was asleep. Hearing her screams, their elder son Piyush (14) woke up and tried to stop his father, but Ravi slashed his finger and threatened to kill him.
Their cries alerted the house owner, who knocked on the door, but Ravi refused to open it. Sensing trouble, the landlord peeked inside and saw Pinky bleeding while Ravi held a knife. As help arrived, Ravi attempted suicide by slitting his own throat.
Pinky managed to escape and collapsed outside, prompting the Nandanvan police to rush the family to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Pinky’s condition is critical, while both children are in shock.
Authorities have registered a case and are investigating further.
