NAGPUR: Hudkeshwar police have registered a case against a 24-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl after threatening to kill her. The alleged incident took place at a lodge in the Tukkdoji Putla Chowk area of Nagpur in April, but the case was registered on October 27 after the victim approached the police.
According to the police complaint, the accused lived in the neighbourhood of the minor girl’s grandmother. Whenever the girl visited her grandmother’s house, the accused allegedly followed her and tried to speak to her.
In 2021, the accused reportedly approached the girl, asked for her mobile phone number and subsequently developed a friendship with her.
Police said that on April 12, 2026, the accused allegedly called the girl to a location at Sai Lodge near Tukkdoji Putla Chowk in Sachidanand Nagar. He allegedly pressured her to establish physical relations and threatened to kill her before forcibly sexually assaulting her.
The accused allegedly subjected the girl to physical and mental harassment and continued to threaten her with death. Due to fear of the accused, the victim did not approach the police immediately, according to the complaint.
On October 27, the girl finally approached Hudkeshwar police and lodged a complaint, following which a case was registered under Sections 64(2) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The accused has not been arrested yet, according to the police record. Further investigation is underway.
