Nagpur: A jeweller from Nagpur has allegedly been cheated of ₹37 lakh in a fraudulent land deal, prompting Tehsil Police to register a case against two accused.
Complainant Manoj Subhashrao Ninawe (50), owner of “Manoj Ninawe Jewellers” in Itwari’s Sarafa Bazaar, alleged that the accused—Dilip Narayan Ninawe (48) and his wife Darshana Ninawe (45)—gained his trust through regular visits to his shop.
Between September 22, 2021, and April 7, 2025, the accused allegedly convinced him to purchase agricultural land in Mouza Kamptee at a lower price, citing financial distress. Trusting their claims, the complainant entered into a verbal agreement and later formalized it on stamp paper, paying a total of ₹37 lakh over time.
However, the accused neither completed the land registration nor returned the money despite repeated requests. Police said the accused intentionally deceived the complainant, causing financial loss.
Based on the complaint and preliminary inquiry, Tehsil Police registered a case under sections 314, 316(2), and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is in progress.
