6-Year-Old Boy Found Dead in Water-Filled Pit in Nagpur’s Wathoda Area

Nagpur: In a tragic incident, a 6-year-old boy was found dead after allegedly falling into a water-filled pit in the Wathoda area of Nagpur on Tuesday afternoon.


The deceased has been identified as Danish Faiyaz Ansari (6), son of complainant Faiyaz Jainul Ansari (30), a resident of Plot No. 46, Sharda Nagar, Pandhurna Road, Kharbi.


According to police, the incident occurred around 3:30 pm on March 17, 2026. The child was found unconscious in a pit filled with wastewater, which had been dug behind the house of a local resident, Irfan Manga Khan (35), in the same locality.


Family members immediately rushed the child to Yes Hospital near Dighori Chowk for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.


Based on the information provided by the complainant, Wathoda Police have registered a case of accidental death. The inquiry is being conducted by Sub-Inspector Swapnil Raut, and further investigation is underway.


The incident has raised concerns about safety hazards posed by open and unprotected pits in residential areas.
