Nagpur: In a crackdown under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, the Social Security Branch (SSB) raided an illegal liquor outlet in Naveen Nagar under the jurisdiction of Pardi Police Station, Nagpur, and seized liquor and cash totaling ₹4,120.
The raid was conducted on June 16, 2025, at Plot No. 86, New Nagar, Chhotu Cycle Store area, based on a tip-off received by the squad from an informant. The accused has been identified as Sandeep Gnyandas Dongre (40), a resident of the same address.
During the raid, officials seized:
- 72 bottles of 90 ml country-made orange liquor (worth ₹2,520)
- ₹1,600 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from illegal liquor sales
The accused was booked under Sections 65(d) and 65(e) of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. The seized items were confiscated in the presence of independent panch witnesses and handed over to the night officer at Pardi Police Station for further investigation.
The operation was executed by PI Omprakash Sontakke, HC Prakash Mathankar, NPC Sheshrao Raut, and PC Kunal Masram from the Social Security Cell.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to continue similar action against the illegal sale of alcohol in the city.
