Nagpur: Illegal Firearms Seized in Kalamna; Two Accused Arrested

Nagpur: Kalamna Police arrested two individuals in the early hours of June 26 for illegal possession of firearms near the New RTO Office in Chikhli. The operation led to the seizure of a country-made pistol and two live cartridges.


Around 2:40 am to 3:40 am, while patrolling, police received a tip-off about a man arriving with a weapon. A trap was laid, and two individuals on a white moped (MH 31 GC 5398) were intercepted. They were identified as Sonu alias Sagar Trivedi (30), resident of Kakde Layout, and Sahadev Shahu (38), resident of Deputy Signal area.


Upon frisking, a country-made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from Trivedi’s pocket. The total seizure, including the weapon and moped, was valued at ₹1.34 lakh.


A case under Arms Act Section 3/25 and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act was registered at Kalamna Police Station. Police suspect the accused were preparing to commit a serious offence. Both are currently in custody, and further investigation is underway.


The operation was conducted under the guidance of DCP Niketan Kadam and ACP Vishal Kshirsagar. The arrest team included PI Pravin Kale, PSI Santosh Ramlod, and other personnel from Kalamna Police Station.
