Nagpur: The Crime Branch Unit 5 of Nagpur Police cracked a house burglary and vehicle theft case reported earlier this month in Hudkeshwar jurisdiction, recovering stolen jewellery and identifying multiple crimes committed by the accused.
Between June 8 and 13, complainant Mangesh Sonkusare of Vaishnavi Nagar had left his locked house for an outstation visit. On returning, he found the lock broken and gold-silver jewellery worth ₹29,000 and ₹5,000 cash missing. An FIR was registered under IPC Sections 305(A), 331(3), and 331(4).
Through technical analysis and reliable intel, the Crime Branch nabbed 23-year-old Akash Durgalal Gautam from Shivshambhu Nagar, Kalamna. During interrogation, Akash admitted to committing the burglary with his accomplice, Sagar Verma of Vijay Nagar, who remains absconding. Akash also confessed to a vehicle theft case under Ajni Police limits.
The team recovered stolen jewellery worth ₹34,550. The accused has been handed over to Hudkeshwar Police for further legal proceedings. Investigation is ongoing.
The breakthrough was achieved under the supervision of Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Jt. Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Addl. Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi, DCP Rahul Makanikar, and ACP Abhijeet Patil.
