Nagpur: Hudkeshwar Police arrested a 32-year-old man carrying a sword inside an auto-rickshaw during late-night patrolling on August 25.
Around 4.45 am, police spotted a suspicious auto driver near Dhage’s Bungalow on Pipla Road. When questioned, he attempted to flee but was caught. He was identified as Sheikh Imran Sheikh Ismail, a resident of Chandni Chowk, Hasanbagh.
A search of his auto-rickshaw (MH-49-AR-0936) led to the recovery of a steel sword hidden beneath the seat. The total seizure, including the vehicle, is valued at ₹1.07 lakh.
Police said the accused was allegedly carrying the weapon with the intention of committing a serious offence, in violation of prohibitory orders. A case under Section 4/25 of the Indian Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act was registered at Hudkeshwar Police Station. He has been taken into custody, and further investigation is ongoing.
