Nagpur: Fake Kings, Fortune Soybean Oil Racket Busted in Lakadganj; Goods Worth Over ₹1.18 Lakh Seized

Nagpur: The Crime Branch Unit 4 of Nagpur Police has uncovered a racket involving the sale of counterfeit edible oil, operating from Mokhare Mohalla in Ward No. 38, under the jurisdiction of Lakadganj Police Station here, on Tuesday.


Acting on a tip-off around 6 pm on April 8, 2025, police officials from Unit 4 were patrolling the area when they received information about the illegal stock and sale of fake edible oil. The team raided the premises and apprehended Vasudev Tularam Khandwani (65), a resident of Ramdev Apartment, Lakadganj.


A search of his warehouse revealed 46 tins of soybean oil branded under popular names such as Kings Soybean Oil, Fortune Sunlite Refined Soybean Oil, and Fortune Soya Health Refined Soybean Oil, all with counterfeit stickers and labels. Additionally, packaging machines, empty oil drums, electric weighing scales, and fake labels were seized—amounting to a total value of approximately ₹1,18,150.


The police registered a case under Section 318(4) of the BNS and relevant sections of the Copyright Act (51, 63, 64) at Lakadganj Police Station. The accused and seized materials have been handed over to the local police for further investigation.


This successful operation was executed under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil, and led by PI Kamalakar Gaddimealong with his team.
