Nagpur: The Nagpur Division of Central Railway has reported a robust performance in scrap disposal for April 2026, generating revenue of ₹1.64 crore through systematic and transparent processes. The achievement underscores the division’s continued emphasis on efficient asset management and resource optimization.

According to official data, the division disposed of a total of 11.099 metric tonnes (MT) of रेल tracks (rails) and 6.150 MT of permanent way (P-Way) material during the month. In addition, 115.000 MT of ferrous scrap and 16.884 MT of non-ferrous scrap were cleared through organized disposal mechanisms.

The division also reported the disposal of 273.226 MT of miscellaneous scrap, while no railway sleepers were scrapped during the period. Officials noted that the consistent identification and removal of obsolete and unserviceable materials has played a key role in maintaining operational efficiency and cleanliness across railway premises.

Railway authorities stated that the initiative not only improves housekeeping of assets but also contributes significantly to non-fare revenue generation. The structured approach adopted by the Nagpur Division aligns with the broader financial sustainability goals of Indian Railways.

The division continues to prioritize systematic scrap management practices, ensuring optimal utilization of resources while strengthening its contribution to overall railway efficiency and revenue growth.
