Juvenile Crime on the Rise: Minor Detained for Brutal Murder of 17-Year-Old in Nagpur’s Kalamna Area

Nagpur: In a shocking incident highlighting the rising concern over juvenile crime, a 17-year-old boy was brutally murdered by a minor acquaintance in the jurisdiction of Kalamna Police Station.


The deceased, identified as Joharan Mustafa Sheikh (17), was allegedly lured to an isolated ground behind Ashrafi Masjid in Vajpayee Nagar on the night of May 5, 2026.


According to police sources, the victim received a phone call from the accused, a juvenile in conflict with law, asking him to meet between 10 pm and 11 pm. Upon reaching the location, the accused attacked him with a sharp weapon, inflicting fatal injuries on his neck, head, and near the ear, leading to his death on the spot.


Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, Sonia Mustafa Sheikh (40), Kalamna Police have registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the juvenile accused.


Police officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the gruesome murder.
