Nagpur: Four to five masked robbers allegedly broke into a house in Friends Colony under the Gittikhadan police station area late on October 23, threatened a family with a plastic gun and a knife, and fled with two mobile phones worth around ₹60,000. One of the intruders allegedly injured a 14-year-old boy who raised an alarm during the robbery.

According to police, the incident occurred between 12.30 am and 12.50 am at House No. 43 in Purva Residency, Netaji Cooperative Society, Friends Colony. The complainant, Soumya Subramaniam Paluru (38), was asleep with her family when the accused, reportedly aged between 20 and 25, forcibly entered the house.

The masked intruders allegedly threatened the family and demanded to know where cash was kept. They then searched a cupboard in one of the rooms for money and valuables.

During the incident, Soumya’s 14-year-old son, Gurucharan, entered the room and began shouting for help. One of the robbers allegedly grabbed him by the neck to silence him. The teenager sustained deep scratches on his neck, reportedly caused by the intruder’s fingernails.

The accused also allegedly attempted to snatch the gold chain worn by Soumya. However, the mother and son continued shouting, raising fears among the intruders that they could be caught.
