Nagpur Crime Branch Raids Hookah Parlour at Heritage Hotel, Detains 45 People; Case Registered Under COTPA Act

Nagpur: Continuing its crackdown on illegal activities, the Nagpur Crime Branch’s NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) unit conducted a raid on a hookah parlour operating at the Heritage Hotel within the jurisdiction of Sadar police station.


During the operation, police detained a total of 45 people, including 36 men and nine women, who were allegedly found consuming hookah at the premises.


A case has been registered under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA). The police also seized 13 hookah pots and other related materials worth approximately Rs 23,000.


The accused in the case include the owner and manager of Heritage Hotel, along with other individuals present during the raid.


As a precautionary measure, the police informed the control room and requisitioned a drug testing kitat the spot. Samples of all the accused were collected for testing to determine whether any narcotic substances had been consumed.


According to the Crime Branch, the entire operation was carried out transparently, honestly, and in accordance with legal procedures.


The raid is part of the Nagpur Crime Branch’s ongoing drive against illegal businesses and activities operating in the city.
