Nagpur: A delivery executive working for Flipkart has been booked for allegedly stealing high-value items, including an iPhone, a camera, Apple AirPods, shoes and several other products worth ₹4.80 lakh, from an Instacart-operated logistics hub in Nagpur.
According to Pratap Nagar Police, the accused has been identified as Umesh Kalidas Sonawane, a resident of the Indora area near Gondia Bus Stand in Gondia district. A case has been registered under Sections 306 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Theft Detected During Company Audit
The complainant, Sanket Sanjay Patange (25), a resident of Sudampuri on Umred Road, Nagpur, works as an Operations Manager for Instacart, which operates logistics services for Flipkart.
Patange stated that during an audit of the company’s hub located opposite the VNIT Gate in Gopal Nagar, Parsodi, under Pratap Nagar police station limits, discrepancies were noticed in the inventory.
A subsequent examination of the company’s system allegedly revealed that Sonawane, who worked as a delivery boy, had stolen several high-value products from the hub between April 1 and June 20, 2026.
Goods Worth ₹4.80 Lakh Missing
The allegedly stolen items include:
- iPhone worth ₹63,284
- Camera worth ₹31,735
- Apple AirPods worth ₹18,749
- Shoes worth ₹14,802
- 113 other miscellaneous products worth ₹3,52,025
The total value of the missing goods has been estimated at ₹4,80,595.
Based on Patange’s complaint and the findings of the company’s audit and system records, Pratap Nagar Police have registered a case against the delivery executive and launched an investigation into the alleged theft.
