Nagpur: In a major anti-narcotics crackdown under the Nagpur Police's "Operation Thunder the Crime Branch Unit 6 arrested two accused and seized poppy straw powder, a motorcycle, and a mobile phone collectively worth Rs 73,750.

According to police, the action was carried out on June 2, 2026, between 7.30 pm and 8.50 pm. Crime Branch Unit 6 officials were conducting patrols in search of criminals when they received specific information about a suspect carrying narcotic substances in the Kapil Nagar police station area.

Acting on the tip-off, police intercepted a man near Gurpal's construction site on the road leading to Teka Naka in the Industrial Area. The suspect was identified as Yash Nitin Walde (23), a resident of Nari Road, Kapil Nagar, Nagpur. He was found riding a black Hero Honda Splendor Plus motorcycle.

Following due procedure under the NDPS Act and in the presence of independent witnesses, police searched the accused and recovered 249 grams of Doda Powder (Poppy Straw Powder) concealed in a plastic packet.

During interrogation, Walde revealed that he had procured the narcotic substance with the assistance of his associate, Chandan Mangal Sakhare (50), a resident of Kapil Nagar. Based on the information, police also arrested the second accused.

The police seized the narcotic substance, a mobile phone, and the motorcycle from the accused. Investigators believe the accused were in possession of the contraband with the intention of selling it for financial gain.

A case has been registered under Sections 8(c), 15(a), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Kapil Nagar Police Station. Both accused have been arrested and handed over to Kapil Nagar Police for further investigation.
