Nagpur: Electro’s massive solar panel manufacturing facility at Additional Butibori MIDC has begun production and is on track to operate at full capacity by the end of December 2025. The ₹13,650-crore project, whose bhoomipujan took place in October 2024, had kicked off basic construction even before the ceremonial launch.

According to company officials, the Butibori unit will roll out solar panels with an annual production capacity of 7,000 MW once fully operational. The facility is poised to generate 2,000 skilled jobs, with a 60 per cent quota for women, translating to around 1,200 female employees. Hundreds of additional indirect jobs are expected as ancillary businesses and service providers expand to meet rising demand.

The plant is India’s first to manufacture large 720 Wp TOPCon solar modules. For now, Avaada imports key solar cells from China, but plans to begin in-house cell production soon. Offering competitive salaries, the company has attracted job seekers from Nagpur and neighbouring districts, while recruitment drives continue at a brisk pace.

Panels produced at the Butibori unit are already being supplied across Maharashtra and other states, including installations for the state government’s Mukhya Mantri Saur Krishi Yojana (MMSKY). Industry insiders note that Nagpur is rapidly evolving into a major solar manufacturing hub, with Jindal Group and Waaree Energies eyeing projects in Additional Butibori MIDC and the Adani Group planning a plant in the MIHAN SEZ.
