Nagpur: Police arrested a 30-year-old man for carrying a deadly weapon and threatening locals near Buddha Murti Chowk in Lashkaribagh on September 8.
Around 12:30 pm, Pachpaoli police received a tip-off that a man was creating panic with a weapon near Baba Tea Stall. Acting on the information, the patrolling team rushed to the spot. On spotting the police, the accused attempted to flee but was chased down and caught.
He was identified as Atish Garibdas Shende, a resident of Shobhakhet, Gondpura, Pachpaoli. A sword worth approximately ₹500 was seized from his possession. Police confirmed that he was brandishing the weapon with the intent to commit a cognizable offence and had violated prohibitory orders.
A case has been registered under Sections 4 and 25 of the Indian Arms Act along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Further investigation is underway.
