Nagpur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Nagpur Range, has intensified its anti-graft drive by registering 73 successful trap cases across major government departments during 2025 and 2026 so far. In a significant crackdown, the bureau also arrested five Class-I officers, while the Regional Transport Office (RTO) emerged as the most bribe-prone department in the region.
The ACB’s latest action highlights its zero-tolerance policy against corruption and its commitment to ensuring transparency in public administration.
73 Trap Cases Across Key Government Departments
According to official figures, the ACB Nagpur Range carried out trap operations against corrupt officers and employees in several important departments, including Revenue, Police, Rural Development, Forest, School Education, Agriculture, Energy, Public Health, Zilla Parishad, Urban Development, Panchayat Samiti, Tribal Development, Registration, Land Records, Sales Tax and Cooperative sectors.
These operations resulted in 73 cases being registered, exposing widespread bribery practices in government offices.
RTO Tops List of Corruption Complaints
Among all departments, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) recorded the highest number of bribery-related actions, prompting the bureau to increase surveillance and enforcement.
Officials said immediate and strict trap operations were launched after receiving complaints against RTO personnel involved in illegal demands for money.
Senior Officers Also Booked
The ACB’s crackdown was not restricted to junior employees. Over the past two years, the bureau conducted seven successful operations in the RTO department, resulting in the arrest of:
- Five Class-I officers
- Two Class-II officers
The action against senior officers is being viewed as a strong warning that rank or position will not shield corrupt officials.
Impartial and Confidential Operations
Officials stated that all trap operations were carried out without political interference or bias. Each complaint was first verified, followed by confidential and well-planned action by ACB teams.
Citizens Asked to Report Bribe Demands
The Anti-Corruption Bureau has appealed to citizens to report any government employee demanding a bribe for official work.
